This BRAND NEW Workshop is created for the 2019 Nail Camps and we LOVED it so we are continuing it at the next camp! Have you ever looked at a cover of Nails, NAILPRO or Scratch magazine and thought “man I could do those nails but clients NEVER would wear it!” This workshop is for Advanced techs who have attended Nail Camp in the past and have attended the Incredible Improvements workshop and are wanting a new challenge! Allie Baker, Champion and Cover Nail Artist MANY times over will go through the basics on how a Cover shoot typically works. What to look out for and some of the best poses when trying to get a good shot. We will have some Q&A with Allie on what its like to sit at Nails or Nailpro and do a cover in their studio. She will also help critique nails along with other top educators attending camp as you work on them to make sure your shaping and structure is on point.
This is your opportunity to spend the time (5 hours) to do a hand or two of nails and get real professional photos using studio and/or outdoor lighting, a DSLR camera and will even be followed up by some photoshop editing from Cover winner & Photographer Jessica Briarmoon! These photos can be used for your business cards, website, facebook and instagram profiles. They will also be a high resolution allowing you to enter them for the Nails Magazine Cover contest (though not required of course!)
As busy techs we never seem to have hours to do a perfect hand of nails that we can get really amazing photos of. Setting up a model or a photographer is a daunting task. Plus the time it takes to gather all the supplies you might want. We will have a table set up with tons of bling, embellishments and products you can use for these nails. Let your creativity soar!
Don’t worry about bringing a model, use your own hand! A perfect 5 nails of stilettos with bling or other crazy embellishments that your clients may never want to walk out the door with but you want to see on a cool set of nails. OR make it simple!! Sculpt out a very thin natural set of extensions and just paint your favorite solid color. Some of the most beautiful covers have been perfect, solid color set. Bring some props you would like to use and we will light it up and snap away! We will have a bottle of Wildflowers FREEDOM liquid available so you can remove the nails and save them and your hand will be free for Saturday’s competitions.
Developing and photoshopping pictures is vital. Color, contrast, levels, exposure, vibrancy and other important factors are all leveled correctly when the image is taken back to the computer. Covers don’t often get printed when hands look dry, old and wrinkled. Often a subtle skin smoothing is needed to give the best final results. You will receive both raw and edited photos shortly after camp – but if Jess has time to get them all done over the weekend, she will show a slideshow of the photos on the last day at lunch! This will be a great start to a fantastic Camp Weekend.
Interest in competing is not required. You can use the photos of your nails for anything you want! Those attending this class are not required to have been to Nail Camp before. If you consider yourself an advanced tech, you can take this workshop instead of Incredible Improvements. There is no need to sign up for either workshop. They are included in the cost of Camp.
