First, second and third place will receive medals and prize money!
You can compete in EITHER Salon Nails OR Gel Manicure. These two competitions run
simultaneously so pick one or the other. Awards are given in both categories, but more
prize money will be awarded to the more difficult Salon Nail category.
Judging is BLIND. Judges will not know whose work they are judging.
Mixed media comp is for attendees only, no entry fee. Prizes and medals for each
category…student/novice, veteran, educator.
Salon Nails:
One Hand, One Hour & Gel Manicure
Gel Manicure Rules – One hand
Complete one hand with gel polish on natural nails. No extensions. Three pink and
white French manicure style nails and two nails a flat crème red.
Competitors using a model will have 30 minutes to complete one hand.
Competitors working on themselves will receive 5 extra minutes as we do know that it is more challenging.
No “building”
Salon Nails Rules: One Hand
Nail Tech has 60 minutes to do ONE hand of Acrylic or Gel enhancements.
You can work on yourself if you do not have a model. Competitors working on
themselves will have an extra 15 minutes.
Three nails need to be pink and white, French style extensions with smile lines OR a one
color application (cover or camouflage pink). Finished nails should have a high shine
accomplished by buffing or you may use a gel top coat. Pink and white applications can
receive up to 5 bonus points.
Two nails need to polished red with a crème red polish or gel polish. No shimmers or
glitters.
Application can be done using natural or clear tips or sculpted with forms.
No white tips.
Length must be added (this is NOT a gel polish competition).
The white portion of the nail (if you choose to do French application) may be applied
using any white building gel or acrylic product.
Product (acrylic, gel, gel hybrids) must be applied on top of the form or tip. (no full
coverage tips, reverse tips, reverse forms)
SALON STYLE – normal smile lines & C-Curve, no extra points for deep competition
style smile lines or C-Curves. Thickness of credit card.
Only pink, white, or clear products can be used. No other colors or glitter.
Oil can be used but wipe off extra (no wet drippy oily nails please)

Mixed Media
THEME : ALL THINGS OCEAN. Fish, mermaids, beaches, cruises, oceans…. get creative 🙂
Remember the comp is for attendees only, no entry fee. Prizes and medals for each

This is mixed media so no 3D higher than 1/4". Bring them with you to camp ready to
turn in.
Turn in 5 tips minimum.
DO NOT post pictures for your entry until after it is judged at camp! Your judges might
be your Facebook friends and if they know it’s yours before its judged, your entry will be
disqualified.
All art must be created specifically for this competition, no recycled art.
Tips must be out of the box, no flattening or altering tips other than to shorten them.
Tips must remain individual. They cannot be attached to each other. Tips can be
touching on your display board but must remain separate from each other. Think “could
these be wearable?”
TIPS (minimum of 5) completed BEFORE you come to the event.
No live models.
Attach tips to single color base so that they are secure and will not move. (Foam core
board works great for display and transportation)
All tips should follow the theme.
Nothing more than 1/4” high, hanging, dangling, extending off the nail tip.
Art should be contained within the canvas of the nail only.
No background art work should be present on the base you affix your art to.
Art will be given point deductions and can be disqualified if the 1/4” limit is exceeded.
Nails may be any length.
You must include at least 4 elements of mixed media, hand paint, airbrush, acrylic, gel,
crystals, glitter, mylar, netting, pigments, caviar beads or stones.
BLING MUST BE USED (rhinestones, crystals) but NOT make up more than 20% of the total design.
NO DECALS, STAMPING, CANES, JEWELRY TYPE ITEMS, or licensed characters
or logos may be used. NO TRADEMARKED DESIGNS.
Short essay explaining your interpretation of the theme and mediums used. Do not
include brands.
DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR ESSAY OR ON YOUR ART PIECE.
